One of the questions we like to ask our CrossFitters at PFP is “what took you so long to walk through the door”? Once they get through the door everyone seems to fall in love with it. It’s just great!
One such recent answer I got was about the weights. CrossFitter said she was very intimidated by all the weight the other people were moving. Watching videos, seeing pictures on FB, Twitter etc. Then when she finally walked through the door she found out they were simply big soft rubber bumper plates. Not the large steel ones she had been used to seeing in her traditional gym. What a relief she sighed. Once she found out that the bars came in different sizes and poundages it made even more sense to her.
One of the greatest things about CrossFit is that fact that we scale all the workouts to YOUR fitness level. Part of that is having all different size boxes, bars, bumpers plates. We are not in the business of hurting you and running you out the door. We want you to have a positive and beneficial experience.
So the next time you see a video or post on FB take note. They may be in fact not as scary as you think. With some work you may be right along with them.
